Wednesday Club Waddesdon are a sociable and supportive charity for older people in the North of Aylesbury Vale. They aim to improve mental health and reduce loneliness and isolation.

The Rothschild Foundation would like to celebrate the work of grantee Wednesday Club Waddesdon whose weekly club based at Wadddeson Hall, provides companionship, mental and physical stimulation, good food, friendship and support for older people and their families in Waddesdon and the surrounding villages.

The club was established over thirty years ago in 1981 and some of the supporting volunteers have been with the club since the beginning. Each Wednesday at Waddesdon Village Hall everyone has a two course hot meal and refreshments throughout the day. During the day the club provides musical entertainment, physical activity such as Yoga and guest presenters who speak on a variety of subjects.

Agnieszka Alborzpour, Wednesday Club Waddesdon reflects on how the Club responds to the needs of the community to remain relevant and inclusive.

“Our charity’s success relies on our ability to be flexible and adaptable in responding to the evolving needs of the community.

This year, we identified key areas needing attention: more social opportunities for older individuals, enhanced mental health support, transportation assistance, and physical activities.

By addressing these needs, we continue to make a significant impact on our local community, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for everyone.”
